Stretch marks look like lines which are parallel to each other on your skin. Stretch marks usually have their own unique color, and stand out on your skin. Stretch marks can also feel itchy on touch, and they are usually softer as compared to the skin in their surroundings.

There are various reasons for stretch marks appearing on your body. They can appear because of rapid weight gain, pregnancy, or puberty. In a nut shell, any type of rapid growth in your body can trigger stretch marks. However, these marks are not harmful at all, and they usually disappear on their own over time.

Causes of Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are made when your skin is stretched too much. Additionally, certain hormonal changes in your body can trigger stretch marks as well.

Usually, stretch marks are developed in woman who are going through pregnancy. That is because the skin of those woman stretches in order to make enough room for the baby to develop. Also, you can get stretch marks by rapid weight gain or loss. Teenagers can also get stretch marks in their puberty due to rapid growth. Additionally, certain skin tightening products can also cause stretch marks by decreasing your skin‘s ability to stretch.

Diagnosis of Stretch Marks

Stretch marks can be easily diagnosed by looking at your skin’s appearance. Your doctor might also take a look at your medical history before telling you that you have stretch marks on your skin. However, if the stretch marks are due to a serious disease, your doctor might ask for further tests.

But, if you are just suffering from stretch marks and nothing else, there are various medical treatments available for these marks.
